Punk rock for the middle aged: filmmaker Julien Temple captures The Sex Pistols’ Brixton Academy shows in London last fall, as singer Johnny Rotten sneers his way through much of the set list, spouting off the occasional obscenity to the delight of the crowd. But the highlights here are the songs – “Anarchy in the U.K,†“Holidays in the Sun,†“Pretty Vacant†and “God Save the Queen†and surprise inclusions “I’m Not Your Stepping Stone,†“Did You No Wrong†and “Roadrunner.†For all the criticism the band has faced in recent years, the legendary Sex Pistols undeniably remain a live powerhouse.
