Rebel Emergency – Rebel Emergency

Reggae has long been the medium of choice for some of music’s most vocal and relevant activists, and it is largely under this flag that Canadian new comers Rebel Emergency have released their self-titled debut EP.

And while reggae makes up the backbone Rebel Emergency, the band undertakes it at varying levels. ‘Walk On By’ featuring artist Panic is the EP’s most blatantly reggae song, while next track ‘Ghosts and Angels,’ probably the best of the seven, only subtly touches on the theme. Routinely adding rock and pop elements the band manages to successfully blend musical styles and create something of a unique style for themselves, unfolding into an EP that stands as an interesting first glimpse into this band, one which will certainly be worthy of a second look at as their career progresses.
