It’s a good thing Madonna’s new CD, The Confessions Tour, recorded during a live performance in London, England, has an accompanying DVD because the CD has a hard time standing on its own without the Material Girls over-theatrical stage show. Madge is a master of reinvention, but she should stick to fashion and leave reinventing her old song-book out of it.

While the DVD is an incredible visual assault, the CD on its own is just a bunch of Madonna’s old songs with some electronic blips added. Madonna is still the quintessential performer, and this is proven in her stage show, however, the need for the CD to even have been released is questionable. Comprised mostly of songs from Confessions on a Dance Floor, this release has a couple of classics like ‘Erotica,’ and ‘Like a Virgin,’ tossed in for a “fresh” take on what is essentially a re-release. This package is really all about the DVD and should have just avoided gouging fans who couldn’t afford the $350 concert ticket prices for even more money by grouping it with the CD.
