What do you get when you cross a Felt Mountain with a Black Cherry? Why, the newest Goldrapp release, Supernature, of course. Up tempo, slightly electric, and with just a small influence from Prince (think of the intro to “When Doves Cryâ€), this disc is sure to have songs featured on every major indie movie sound track.
Goldfrapp are back with disc #3, a new plethora of luscious lyrics, and a mash up of beats drawn from their previous two releases. This is not necessarily a bad thing, as Felt Mountain was a disastrous choice when deciding to operate heavy machinery, and Black Cherry a disastrous choice when deciding to stay sober. The blending, as such, is the perfect way to then operate heavy machinery while deciding to not stay sober.
Unfortunately, like every drug trip gone awry, the flow of this release is just a little off. Worse than mood swings of a sitcom bride, the tempo is beyond erratic. Had the order of tracks shifted to form a nice sine wave of tempo induced aural pleasure, this would be one for the ages. Regardless, grab your pills, your forklift, and enjoy.
