Luke Doucet – Broken (and other rogue states)

Luke Doucet’s new album, Broken (and other rogue states), is a break-up record in its finest form. The album intricately weaves through the ins and outs of an ending relationship, and examines what seems like each moment in the “getting over it” process.

Daniel Lanois – Rockets

Rating: 3.5/5Released: June 14, 2005Reviewer: David Coats Long considered one of Canada’s best, if largely unknown, songwriters and producers, Rockets is Dan Lanois’ “cottage industry” recording, featuring “a combination of live and alternative studio takes.”

Goldfrapp – Supernature

Rating: 3.5/5Released: August 23, 2005Reviewer: Jason Zalmanowitz What do you get when you cross a Felt Mountain with a Black Cherry? Why, the newest Goldrapp release, Supernature, of course. Kanye West – Late Registration

Kanye West’s 2004 debut, The College Dropout, was a revelation in hip-hop. When every other rapper was topping the charts singing about guns, jewellery, and cars, Kanye blew them all away – largely by singing about the same things (oh, and some little song about Jesus).
